Powering Curiosity at Owl Creek’s Family STEAM Night
Students and families filled Owl Creek Elementary in Fayetteville for the school’s second annual Family STEAM Night, an event celebrating science, technology, engineering, art and math. Local businesses and organizations hosted hands-on activities that encouraged curiosity and creativity in young minds.
Ozarks Electric Cooperative featured interactive demonstrations showing how electricity travels from power plants to homes and how everyday appliances use energy. Tabletop displays helped students visualize the path electricity takes to reach their homes, with light switches illustrating how outages occur when any part of that path is interrupted.
Another display allowed families to guess which household appliances use the most energy before flipping a switch to find out.
